Think About This
Friday, June 19, 2009 at 06:10PM Jon Stewart:
I think you're moving towards a direction where the common ground can come at, and that is where you support a culture where, before it becomes a crisis, nipping it in the bud. And that means abandoning some core principles of "abstinence-only", "no contraception" and teaching it in the same respect that you'd teach the growth from a cell to a fertilized cell to a fetus to a baby, but also, making sure that the consequences of behavior are known, but also ways that that behavior can be mitigated, not just with a morality teaching of abstinence. Would you be okay with something like that?
Mike Huckabee:
Well I would be certainly favorable toward anything that helps us to preserve every human life and to treat it with dignity and worth, because I think the densitization that we have when we start saying 'This life just isn't worth keeping. It's just going to be an economic interuption or I just don't have the capacity to care for it' [is wrong].
