The Brute?
Caricature by Carly GarzaIn my last year of college, I got a Blogger account and started recording my thoughts on media and politics. I don't consider myself as cultured, educated, funny or thin as the thinkers I admire, so it seemed apropro to apply a concept that functioned as a singular counterpoint to my inspirations: The Brute.
Since 2009, The Brute has a been a dumping ground for all things I value in media, politics and art. There's neither rhyme nor reason to its ebb and tide. One month it's all video games. The next, all poetry. The third, nothing because I'm too tied up with leads and/or life.
I eventually imported the blog to Squarespace as my writing went pro and my tone, a little less wordy and sarcastic. In the age of Facebook and Twitter, posts just don't come with the same rapidity, but The Brute carries on, reconciling media, politics and art forever.
Love and respect.
